Professional executorship refers to the appointment of a qualified professional, such as a lawyer or a licensed trust company, to act as executor of the estate. Unlike a family member or friend, a professional executor brings expertise, impartiality, and administrative experience to the role.

You should consider having a professional executor if you do not have a trusted individual in mind for the role, or prefer to have a professional executor to ensure that your estate is managed efficiently, in compliance with the law, and without burdening loved ones with complex or contentious responsibilities.
