Can I give gifts to my unborn child?
Yes, you can add such a beneficiary like any other beneficiary in the platform. However, do take note that it is important to clearly identify and describe such that there should be no questions surrounding who you are intending to give the gift(s) to.
Listing using broad categories can have serious downsides as they may still be ambiguous, overlap with other categories, and is often more prone to mistakes. Listing each personnel individually is still the preferred approach as it adds clarity, makes future updates easier, and helps prevent unintentional errors.
Similarly, both CPF and insurance nominations are not made to unspecified groups of people, rather you will need to list them down individually.
You should strongly consider updating the Will again (e.g. to update details such as the child's Name and Identification No.) after the child is born to clearly identify the individual.
If you are already expecting your unborn child
You can add such a beneficiary:
Full name | My unborn Child who will be due on {estimated delivery date} |
Relationship | select "Others" |
For an unborn grandchild, you will have to be more specific e.g. to mention who the parent is. An example is shown below:
Full name |
My unborn Grandchild (child of XXX) who will be due on {estimated delivery date} |
Relationship | select "Others" |
If you intend to distribute equally among all your children including those yet conceived
You can add such a beneficiary:
Full name | Be distributed EQUALLY amongst my surviving children |
Relationship | select "Others" |
For distributing equally between grandchildren, you will have to be more specific since you can still have new grandchildren many years even after your death. An example is shown below:
Full name |
Be distributed EQUALLY amongst my surviving grandchildren born before my demise |
Relationship | select "Others" |
