How do I allocate assets in my Will to an existing trust?
Important - You may not be able to allocate assets to some Trust upon your death if the Trust has terms that terminates upon your death. Do check with your Trust provider if your established Trust (i.e. living Trust) does indeed continue on even after your death and is able to accept further funds allocated to it via your Will.
If you already have an established Trust (i.e. a living Trust) that allows you to give more assets to it upon your death, within your Will, you can allocate your assets to the Trustee to be placed into the Trust.
You can add the Trustee of the Trust as a Beneficiary of your Will:
Full Name: |
{Name of Trust Company}, {UEN or Other Registration No.}, as Trustee of {Name of Trust} established on {Date} |
Relationship: |
Others - - [relationship will not be printed] |

If the Trust has a specific Trust Account Number or any other details, you can also add it at the end to the name:
Full Name: |
{Name of Trust Company}, {UEN or Other Registration No.}, as Trustee of {Name of Trust} established on {Date}, {Trust Account Number} |
Relationship: |
Others - - [relationship will not be printed] |
You should also check with the Trust company if they have any particular phrasing or clauses that need to be included in the Will. Do note that any wishes on the existing Trust for the Trustee should be recorded in the Letter of Wishes (instead of the Will).
Once the existing Trust is added as a Beneficiary, you can allocate the asset(s), including in the Residual Assets section, as per any other Beneficiary.
